The upcoming film, Jurassic World, a sequel that hopes to reboot the Jurassic Park franchise, has officially begun its viral marketing campaign by leaking images of the fictitious, dinosaur preserve’s travel brochure.
“Utilizing brochures and other printed materials is always a good way to get your message out there,” says Adam Sturm, President of Apple Visual Graphics. “This brochure is an extremely creative and innovative way to market the upcoming movie Jurassic World!”
The brochure hopes to build hype for the movie by showing a layout of the park, and a list of dinosaurs that visitors can hope to see. The park’s main areas include: the Gentle Giants Petting Zoo, T-Rex Kingdom, Mosasaurus Feeding Show, Creation Lab, Jungle Trek, Aviary, and Scrambler.
The list of dinosaurs includes: Pteranodon, Metriacanthosaurus, Microceratus, Mosasaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Apatosaurus, Baryonyx, Dimophodon, Edmontosaurus, Gallimimus, and Ankylosaurus.
Oh, and of course: Tyrannousaur Rex, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops.
The film stars Chris Pratt, who plays the leading role of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy that’s set to be released this August, and Bryce Dallas Howard, who starred in Spider Man 3.
“Jurassic World takes place in a fully functional park on Isla Nublar. It sees more than 20,000 visitors every day. You arrive by ferry from Costa Rica. It has elements of a biological preserve, a safari, a zoo, and a theme park. There is a luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and a golf course,” explains the film’s director, Colin Trevorrow. “And there are dinosaurs. Real ones. You can get closer to them than you ever imagined possible. It’s the realization of John Hammond’s dream, and I think you’ll want to go there.”
However, with the slew of reboots (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), sequels (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), and sequels to reboots (Transformers 4) that have been populating the movie theater, it seems that the team behindJurassic World is going to have to find a way to set the film apart.Perhaps that’s why they decided to let that little tease of viral marketing leak.
