“A premium increase often triggers shopping behavior, but we’re seeing fewer people shopping,” Bowler said. “This indicates that insurers are more effectively communicating with their customers, making them aware of the premium increases when they occur and why they’re necessary, and demonstrating the value of their coverage.”

According to the J.D. Power study, overall satisfaction rating for car insurance companies was highest among a group called “Loyal Advice Seekers,” customers who are least likely to both shop for or switch to alternate providers due to their rapport with their insurance agents, according to an insurancenetworking.com article. Conversely, satisfaction was lowest among the “Unengaged” customer group, who don’t have a one-on-one relationship with their agents.

The J.D. Power auto insurance study surveyed 44,661 auto insurance customers this year throughout the months of March and April.
